What is Alonga Travel about

What is Alonga Travel?

Alonga Travel is my travel and lifestyle blog, where I share my awesome travel experiences, mostly in Europe, to give you ideas where to visit.

I travel full-time while working online, and I see incredibly beautiful scenes and interesting experiences.

These experiences are simply too remarkable and need to be shared so that you can experience them as well!

This is how Alonga Travel came to life.

Alonga Travel is designed strictly for humans! Scrapping and copying is not allowed, everything is copyrighted.

Writing for algorithms is much more lucrative, but it creates a boring reading experience, in my opinion. Alonga Travel is a product of love and I share my own experiences, because it’s way more fun this way!

Experiences I describe are also fun. Sure, I have my share of slightly unpleasant travel experiences, and I will definitely warn you about them, if I think you might encounter the same problems.

But, with the way I plan my trips, with booking tickets and accommodations ahead, and an extensive map research, my experiences are by far pleasant. And I want to share with you how to have the same, regardless of your budget.

My exciting temporary rooftop office in Portugal. Isn’t it fun?! 🙂

That’s why my mobile offices and accommodations are often a lot of fun, while rarely expensive. Like this mobile office I had in Portugal. I enjoyed it so much! I’m sure you can see, why! 😉 I will tell you the story about this place some day soon, and share my videos of my friends storks.

About Me

Hello, I’m Tatiana. I’m very enthusiastic about uniquely looking old buildings and interesting city walks, especially in Europe. They draw me in like a magnet and I simply can’t get enough of them!

Since we don’t have many old buildings in the US, I traveled to Europe as often as I could. However, it reached a point where I simply couldn’t resist this attraction any longer!

So, now I’m trying a wild thing: traveling full-time while working online. I explore new destinations all over the world, getting to know them really well  (because it’s fun!) before moving on to the next one. I’ve became an insider in many cities.

I learn as I go and share my experiences with you. You can read more about me here. Will you join me on my quest?

What travel experiences do I mostly cover on this website?

I mostly cover walking and exploring cities and small towns on foot, as I feel the most connection to a city this way.

I seek out cute urban scenesbeautiful old buildings and old narrow alley, with sprinkles of some cultural experiences.

Some people travel for local food, some for sports and activities – I travel for a certain vibe you can only feel while walking.

The vibe I seek depends on the place; each location has a unique vibe that interests me.
It is not about which attractions I saw, but how the city and the place felt matter to me.

Tropical overgrown trees almost cover beautiful yellow building
My favorite thing about traveling to Vietnam is seeing its beautiful, lavishly overgrown palm trees and lianas. Just look at this beautiful yellow house, covered by gorgeous nature. Everything looks so moody and cool!

I also don’t pass a single cute thing (like this red mailbox bellow) on my walks without taking the picture of it. I know! 😉 This could be annoying for some ‘wrong’ travel partner! 🙂 Luckily, this ability to take pictures and videos as much as you want, is one of the great advantages of traveling solo ( as I do).

Isn’t this mailbox cute? I don’t think Europeans, who are used to these mailboxes, understand our admiration of them. I mean, we only have square, rather ugly blue metal boxes for mail. Our expectations are low!:)

If you love old architecture as much as I do, and you can’t stay indifferent to beautiful older buildings, castles and palaces – you might enjoy my blog even more!

Read more about what aspects of traveling I can help you most, and also what is my preferred style of blogging, and why I’m pivoting to a new style lately.

Before starting this blog, I was sharing my experiences with friends and family on my Facebook personal page, and in person.
However, as more and more of my friends started asking for my travel expertise, I decided to start a blog, to share my travel experience on my blog, answering all their questions there at once.
Alonga Travel has given me the opportunity to do that, while also creating new work opportunities for me.

I like simple authentic local experiences, like buying a fresh fish from a fishermen boat (on my video below). I feel that any interesting experience that is different from my regular life experiences makes traveling fun.

When did I start Alonga Travel?

I started blogging in 2021.

Right this moment, as of March 2025, I’m in a process of moving my entire blog to another platform. Unfortunately, this messed up the dates, and all my older posts are dated as 2025, instead of the year they were written.

The first couple of years of that was definitely a learning curve! 🙂 But I have learned so much!

Here, I want to remind you how important it is not to give me on what you like doing, even though it is very hard at times.

Just keep grinding, something beautifully will come out of that eventually! Don’t question it, have faith and discipline!

I can help you to find inspiration for your own trip

As explained in Start Here section, my aim is to provide you with inspiration for your own trip.

I am on a mission to share as much of what I see and feel as my time allows.
