A few words about my blogging style

Alonga Travel is my travel and lifestyle blog. Here is more about me, the author of this blog.

My blogging style has started with covering topics very thoroughly to give you as much information as possible, with as much visuals as possible. Read here about topics I cover on Alonga Travel.

It is changing though in the age of AI and all the changes it brings to the web.

So first, let me tell you how I like to blog and what do I love writing about.

I like writing about walking and exploring cities and towns on foot. This way I can experience all the architecture and beautiful houses more fully. This is what I like doing the most and this is what I blog about.

 I’m a visual person: I need to see things rather than just hear about them. That is why I treat you the way I like to be treated, so I share plenty of images, videos, and maps on my blog – to give you the best impression of a destination.

I like writing Thorough Posts

I like covering destinations & other topics as thorough as blogging rules allow (there are rules to keep us turning topics into books!:). Besides, people’s attention gets shorter and shorter each year.

And that is time consuming. Writing posts is not just writing whatever came to mind.
One also needs to do a lot of research to make sure the things one talks about are current, especially the prices.

I like to double (or triple) check the information I write about.
blogging this way takes up a lot of time, but this is the way I feel comfortable blogging. I do not want to serve wrong or very dated information.

And this is what I was doing in my earlier blog posts. I was covering a topic, until all aspects were completely covered. This is why I don’t have all destinations I’ve visited covered yet.

Unfortunately, large AI language models like ChatGPT have emerged online. They can read and memorize our blog posts, allowing anyone to recreate them with a few prompts and present as theirs. And, as an added insult, they also compete with us, using OUR writing, for visibility in Google search results.

Basically, anything is now free ‘food’ for large language models to consume. For example, I have THOUSANDS of bots, scrapping my site at any given 6-hour intervals, according to my site’s analytics tools and logs.

I’ll write a more detailed post about it later, but for now I want to emphasize that, yes, you can learn about destinations through short bullet point presentations from ChatGPT and similar tools.

However, none of them can convey how things really FEEL in the world. But I and other bloggers talking about their own experience, can! And we have pictures and videos show you!

So, lately, this is what I will be moving towards – showing you how some cool destinations feel! Plus, I will be covering some practical info I think you will really need, but you won’t find it through AI channels.

Please be patient with me as these AI tools are a new and unprecedented development. All bloggers are uncertain about how to avoid being taken advantage of by bad actors using them.

However, I know that large language models like ChatGPT and bloggers who don’t have first-hand experience, can’t provide the full picture. They only know the facts they’ve read and can’t think creatively; they just recite information.

I can offer you a more complete impression of a destination from my insider perspective. I will also introduce you to other awesome bloggers who describe their authentic experience.
