Spain travel topics on Alonga Travel

Spain is my favorite country in Europe. I am planning to cover Spain travel topics extensively eventually, as I try to spend a few months there every year, staying in different areas of the country and I’ve learned a lot!

Eventually I’m planning to show here everything I’ve learned about Spain travel. Continue reading for all the topics about Spain I’m planning to show on my blog, or jump straight to the topic I have already covered on Alonga Travel .

Andalusia

Spain travel topics I cover on Alonga Travel with emphasis on beautiful Andalusia, Spain and its iconic views

Andalusia is my favorite area of Spain. Spain travel for me is uncomplete without a trip to Malaga, Granada, Seville and Cordoba. I went many times and I’ve spent a few months there.

I love writing about Andalusia and all my adventures there. I keep coming back for more!

Central Spain

I also love Madrid and Toledo in Central Spain and try to visit often on my Spain travel trips. I can’t wait to show you some of the amazing findings from there (hopefully, soon!).

I love the lively energy of Madrid so much! And Toledo is quite possibly my favorite city in the whole world. The architecture is so well preserved and authentic, and the old town is well lived in.

Barcelona

My Spain travel adventure bring me to Barcelona and I am planning to cover a lot of my impressions about this place. My relationship with this city in Catalonia is more complex than with other cities in Spain. I love some parts of the city a lot, and only like, but not love other areas of Barcelona. I will explain which are my favorite soon.

Regardless, Barcelona is a great base for exploring neighboring wonderful areas and should be part of your Spain travels! That’s why I visit the city often. Besides, Barcelona is a cheaper hub for flying into Europe from the US, and it also very convenient with the shorter travel time.

From Barcelona you can easily explore:

Costal areas of Catalonia around Barcelona

  • Costa Brava
Costa Brava, also called “Wild Coast” or “Rough Coast” that stretches along the Mediterranean Sea north of Barcelona from Blanes to the French border at Portbou. Best cities are: North of Barcelona. Girona, Figueres, Roses, Cadaques, Begur, Tossa de Mar, Lloret de Mar.
  • Costa Barcelona. The Coast immediately north and south of Barcelona. Sitges, Castelldefels, Mataro, Calella, Vilanova i la Geltru are the best cities.
  • Costa Daurada or Costa Dorada is located south of Barcelona. Tarragona, Reus, Salou, Cambrils are there – all beautiful cities! I spent the last Carnival is Tarragona and it was a lot of fun!

Mallorca is another wonderful part of Spain I enjoyed exploring. Palma de Mallorca and Soller were my favorite cities there, though many smaller vilifies were also very lovely

If you fancy wondering medieval alleys without people in sight – this is your place!

Here are many examples of many other Mudejar buildings in Spain.

And if you are wondering what Mudejar means, read my review of Mudejar architecture (mostly in Spain)

This is all I had time to cover so far, but I’m very excited to start working on other places I’ve visited, loved, and want to share with you!

Meanwhile, let me introduce Spain a bit to show you what I like about it.

Introduction to Spain

Why people flock to see Spain

Most people come to experience the exciting allure of Spain, it’s architecture, lively ambience and delicious food and tapas with cheap tasty wine.

The country has been influenced by many different cultures throughout the years, including the Romans, Moors, and Catholic monarchs. You can see remnants of these civilizations in cities like Granada, with the Alhambra, and Seville, with the Alcázar.

Spanish architecture

Spain is like an outdoor museum with amazing structures in cities like Barcelona and Madrid. Antoni Gaudí’s unusual buildings, like the Sagrada Familia, attract people.

I’m personally into older architecture, and Spain has so many amazing places for that!

Some places even have unique styles blending together in places like Córdoba, with it’s Mudejar architecture. Toledo, Seville, Granada, Salamanca, Gerona, or ANY old town: the Spanish architecture will leave you addicted and crave more!

Spanish Cuisine

And who hasn’t heard about the famous Spanish cuisine! One fun tradition in Spain is sharing small plates of food, tapas, with friends and family.

You can try out different types of food in Spain, like jamón ibérico (Iberian ham), paella, and sangria.

If you visit Spain, you can go to cool places like La Boqueria market in Barcelona to taste local cheeses and seafood. In Jerez de la Frontera, you can sip on sherry and enjoy tasty tapas at a bodega.

Each part of Spain has its own special foods to try. In Basque Country, you can munch on pintxos, and in Galicia, you’ll find delicious seafood dishes.

And don’t forget about the traditional desserts like churros and flan!

Spanish Traditions

The flamenco dance, Tomatina festival, and other cultural traditions also attract visitors.

So, people come to visit Spain and discover the rich history, beautiful art, and passionate culture that make this country so special. And that’s the experience they don’t forget, so they keep coming for more!
